Religious Services

Erev Shabbat - Friday Night
JRC gathers weekly on Friday evenings for Erev Shabbat services. On any given week, services may include a Torah discussion led by Rabbi Rosen, introductions to new music by Cantor Howard Friedland, a Shabbat service of original music called Shir Chadash, written by composer and JRC member Bob Applebaum, or special life blessings for JRC members.

Our Family Service is scheduled for the third Friday of each month, when families with school-age children are invited for a warm and joyous Shabbat experience. At various points throughout the year, we also sponsor "Shabbat B’yachad," which begins at 6:00 pm. This special Shabbat experience brings the JRC community together to share prayers, songs and a delicious Shabbat dinner. Back to top of page.

Shabbat Shacharit - Saturday Morning
On Shabbat mornings, JRC holds a service at 10:00 a.m. in the Main Sanctuary, which often includes a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration. Our member-led Shabbat Minyan, a creative, highly participatory service that includes an extensive Torah Discussion, also begins at 10:00 am. On the second Shabbat of each month at 10:30 am we offer Tot Shabbat, a one-hour preschool service that features singing, stories, and activities for children and their parents/caregivers. Contacts: Shabbat Minyan Service: Shirley Gould; Tot Shabbat: Bonnie Silverman.
