How Does Kallah Weekend Work? Here's What to Expect: Accommodations: Camp Beber is located on 380 acres. We stay in clean, heated rooms in Beber’s conference center, usually one family per room, with up to 3 bunk beds (i.e. 6 beds) and a private bath. All food is prepared in a kosher kitchen and served buffet style. Vegetarian options are available upon request. We all take turns helping to clear and clean the tables. Kamp Kallah: “Kamp Kallah” is the name of the children’s programming for the weekend. Activities and childcare will be available during adult learning, praying and party times. Kamp Kallah includes nature hikes, sports, art, singing, youth services and junior onegs to keep your kids entertained and happy. Individual babysitters are also available for younger children. Recreation Opportunities: Camp Beber is a lovely setting for an enjoyable outdoor weekend, which could include volleyball, softball, sports in the gym, a jog or walks in the woods and, of course, taking time to simply relax, read a book, or shmooze with friends, old and new. You can do as much or as little as you wish. Before Kallah: After you register you will receive a packet by email or postal mail explaining how to get there, what to bring, who’s coming and full details about the schedule. Friday evening: We try to arrive by 5:00 p.m. to get settled into the relaxed spirit of Shabbat and the weekend. At 6:00 p.m. we will have a short session to get acquainted followed by Shabbat dinner, family services, singing and dancing. Afterwards, adults will delve into our first learning session. Kamp Kallah will be open for school age kids to enjoy snacks, games and movies. Babysitters will be available for younger children. Saturday: We begin with breakfast, followed by a Shabbat service and torah discussion. During adult services, Kamp Kallah will offer a youth service and activities. Babysitters will be available for younger children. We will meet up for lunch, after which you are free to play, walk in the woods, shmooze, snooze, or do whatever you like. Late Saturday afternoon we will have our second learning session and Kamp Kallah. After Saturday dinner we will have a Havdalah service, and our annual children-led Talent Show. The evening will continue with separate late-night parties for adults and kids. Sunday: Following breakfast we will have a participatory workshop/activity for all ages followed by free time, lunch and a closing friendship circle before everyone departs for home. Cost/Registration: The cost for the weekend is: $145 per adult; $115 per child age 5-16; $85 per child age 2-4; children under 2 are free. The deadline for registration is March 15. Space is available on a first come, first served basis. Kallah fills fast and space is limited. We will try our best to accommodate everyone who wants to go. If you register after space is filled, you will be put on a priority waiting list for next year. Download the registration form and sign up today! Cancellation policy: 100% refund if you cancel by May 9th; 50% refund after May 9th and before May 21st. Sorry, but we cannot make any refunds unless we receive written notice prior to Kallah. If you have a child, 6th grade or older, who might be interested in babysitting, please let us know. We will provide more information about babysitting opportunities once registration is complete. Babysitters receive a small stipend for their work. |
