This Privacy Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect and use the personal information you may provide us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using the JRC Web site.

What Information Do We Collect?

When you visit the JRC Web site you may provide us with two types of information: (i) personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis and (ii) Web site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse the JRC Web site.

Personal Information You Choose to Provide

Registration Information.

Certain secure portions of the JRC Web site are accessible only to JRC members and staff, as well as to invited prospective members.  Registration for those secure portions of the JRC Web site is open only to members of JRC in good standing and prospective members given limited access by the JRC staff.

You will be asked to provide us with information about yourself, your company and your preferences when you register to use the secure members’ only portions of www.jrc-evanston.org, and you will be asked whether you wish to opt out from receiving and register to receive membership email newsletters and alerts.

After you have submitted your registration information, we will verify that you are a member of JRC in good standing, before your registration is approved.

Email Information

If you choose to correspond with JRC through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses.

Web Site Use Information

Similar to many other non-profit sponsored Web sites, our Web site utilizes a standard technology called "cookies" (see explanation below, "What Are Cookies?") and Web server logs to collect information about how the JRC Web site is used.  Information gathered through cookies and Web server logs may include the date and time of visits, the pages viewed and time spent at the JRC Web site.

How We Use the Information You Provide to Us

We use the information you provide when registering to confirm, based on the JRC membership records, that you are a member in good standing so that we can approve your registration request.

We will use information you provide us in the form of information requests and emails to satisfy your information request.

What Are Cookies?

A cookie is a very small text document, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier.  When you visit a Web site, that site's computer asks your computer for permission to store this file in a part of your hard drive specifically designated for cookies.  Each Web site can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a Web site to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.

How Do We Use Information We Collect from Cookies?

When you log on, the site uses its cookies to establish a secure "session."  A session is the period of time you have your browser open and eliminates the need for you to log in more than is necessary for security.  Once logged on, we do not ask you for your ID and password again, unless you have logged off, or have let 30 minutes elapse without any activity. Cookies, in conjunction with our Web server's log files, allow us to calculate the aggregate number of people visiting the JRC Web site and identify which parts of the site are most popular.  This helps us gather feedback in order to constantly improve the JRC Web site and better serve our members.  Cookies do not allow us to gather any personal information about you and we do not store any personal information that you provided to us in your cookies.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

JRC does not share its members’ personal information with any third parties.

Notice of New Services and Changes

Occasionally, we may use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our Web site, new events and news we think you will find valuable.  As a member, you can notify us of your desire not to receive these notices by sending us an email request. Please .  Also, if you have any questions, comments or concerns about the Privacy Policy or the information practices of this Web site, please contact us via email, please .
