Some of the special things we are doing during the High Holidays

Not only are our services $18 for people 35 and under, but that price gets you access to all of our High Holiday festivities, and there are a lot of them. Come to one or all of them, and meet other young people who are active at JRC.

Rosh Hashanah Lunch for Young Adults
September 21 at approx. 12:30pm

After services, we will walk over to The Olive Mountain, a Middle Eastern restaurant in downtown Evanston, to eat lunch together. Please join us if your observance allows it - as folks will be paying for lunch a-la-carte. See the menu and prices here.

Tashlich Service
September 21

4:30pm at Dawes Park, Evanston
For this beloved JRC tradition, we will gather at the lakefront and toss stale breadcrumbs into the water to represent our sins. Bring a few pieces of stale bread (but we will have extra if needed).

Yom Kippur Discussion Group
September 30

Join JRC's young adults for an alternative discussion group as we experience the High Holiday liturgy through art. We will be using oil pastels to reflect on passages from the Days of Awe to create illuminated texts. All artistic abilities welcome. Please join us if your observance allows it - we will be drawing and listening to reflective music.

Break-the-Fast Potluck
September 30

After the Yizkor/Ne’ilah service on Yom Kippur, JRC Young Adults are hosting a community-wide break-the-fast potluck! Please bring a vegetarian/dairy dish to share (no nuts please!). The meal will be held in Glenna Hall at First United Methodist Church.

Cocktails in the Sukkah
Tuesday, October 10

Join Rabbi Weiss and JRC young adults in the sukkah for some fall harvest themed cocktails, small bites and conversation. Everyone is welcome to come to this free event. Please remember to wear warm layers as we will be outdoors. In case of inclement weather, we will gather in the Small Sanctuary.
