JRC remains dedicated to the well-being and safety of our members, our staff, and our surrounding communities. In this time of illness and trepidation, Judaism obligates us to take responsibility for one another.

Our senior leadership, including all clergy, senior staff, and lay leaders, are having daily check-ins with health care professionals to ensure our decisions are well-grounded in science and up to date with the latest thinking and public directives.

For additional information from these discussions, please see this discussion

Taking the most up to date information into consideration, we are closing the JRC building at least until April 12th—the end of Spring Break.

Religious school and early childhood classes will be cancelled during this period, while our teachers are exploring virtual teaching and connection opportunities. Stay tuned for details.

Staff will be checking messages remotely during business hours and will return calls or pass the information on to the appropriate staff member. An emergency phone number will be available on the outgoing message.

Although we may not be able to share the same physical space, we can certainly stay in community. Every day, Rabbi Rachel, Cantor Howard, or Rabbi David will share a few minutes of Torah, music, or inspiration by video. Check the JRC Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/JRCEvanston/ for this moment of connection.

Also, a team of volunteers will be reaching out to each household by phone as a check-in. Please let Hannah Shearn know if you would like to be a part of that team.

Email Hannah at hannahvshearn@gmail.com

Our Chesed volunteers are organizing online shopping for those congregants who are at high risk, who are ill, who are unable to shop for essentials, or are technologically or financially challenged. Please email Marie Davidson if you are in need or if you want to be part of the shopping team.

Email Marie at Chesed@jrc-evanston.org

Finally, we ask for your support and patience while we do our best to make the best decisions for our community and respond to your messages and emails. Our staff and clergy are working above and beyond to be there for all of us while managing their own challenges.
