Building your Family’s Diverse Library: A Diverse and Inclusive Book Fair

Building your Family’s Diverse Library
A Diverse and Inclusive Book Fair

Join rabbis, teachers and authors to hear stories and buy books for your home and our classrooms that reflect the real diversity of today’s Jewish world. Talk about how to be an ally by reading books about experiences that are different than your family’s, and find books that feature families just like yours.

Learning and literacy are Jewish values. Does your family library include books about people of different races? Different gender identities and expressions? Same-sex families? Families created by adoption? Interfaith families? Different abilities? Our Jewish values teach that we should v’ahavta l’re’echa camocha – love our fellow human being as ourselves (Leviticus 19:2). In order to live these values, we need to actively teach about different ways of being, loving, learning and living.

Special Guest Readings at 11:00am:
Jessica Herthel, author of "I Am Jazz"
Ami Polonsky, author of "Gracefully Grayson"
Carrie Goldman Segall author of "Jazzy's Quest: Adopted and Amazing"
